Remedy lapses in field work, trainees urged

THE Police Regional Office (PRO) 7 ordered several corrective measures in the deployment of field trainees to improve performance after noting several flaws.

Regional Operations and Plans Division Chief Carmelo Valmoria said that if such “flaws and defects” are not immediately rectified, these would “redound to inefficiencies and ineffectiveness in the overall performance of duty.”

He instructed all units to closely supervise and monitor the performance of the rookie policemen, who are on their field training program (FTP) in Cebu and will take on security duties during a Southeast Asian leaders’ summit in December.

He also warned that office and station commanders will be held accountable for the FTP policemen’s failures.

He said the FTP policemen should be required to bring writing materials so they could scribble down observations and information while on duty.

They are also to report back to the station after their duty and submit an after-patrol report.

Any untoward incident in their areas should be reported to their stations.

They were instructed to conduct roving patrols on foot to establish links with the people in their beat assignments, and tap the services of security guards and barangay tanods.

And they should relay any important information to the personnel replacing them. A patrol leader, designated for each team and shift, will be responsible for submitting the report. (MEA)
