Tuesday, November 28, 2006 Japanese resto with spa opens to cater Cebuano market
BANKING on the Ce-buanos’ taste for Japanese food, a company has opened a Japanese restaurant on A.S Fortuna St, Mandaue City.
Gladys Lim, part-owner of Kagura Japanese Restaurant, said a spa, which can accommodate 40 people, is also included in the 900-square meter establishment.
“The spa within a restaurant is one of the practices of the Japanese. They eat and go to the spa or vice versa,” she said.
Market
Lim is also part-owner of Olio, a restaurant that serves European dishes and the Chinese restaurant, East Ocean.
Locals
“There is a market for fine dining in Cebu. Although it’s not really big, but there is a market,” she said.
Lim said 60 percent of Kagura’s market is composed of locals while Koreans and Japanese comprise 20 percent each.
Kagura restaurant has a seating capacity of 200 persons. It has a Ramen corner, which is open 24 hours. (JBN)
