Cebu Province eyes better finish

AFTER holding the Provincial Meet Cebu province is eyeing to better its third-place finish in the Central Visayas Regional Athletics Association (Cviraa) in Dumaguete City next year.

Still it will be the Cebu City Niños who are the top title threat when they gun for their 14th over-all crown in the annual regional meet.

Last year, the Niños celebrated their 13th unprecedented championship title when they took both the elementary and secondary title.

Their secondary bets scored 589 points, while their elementary counterparts collected 664 points.

Seven Paulin, the province’s Physical Education supervisor, said they are eyeing to surpass their third place finish next year.
He said the Province’s coaches and trainers have already undergone seminars on scientific training.

“We are trying to uplift the coaches’ skills in training so as that the athletes will also improve their skills too,” said Paulin.

After the Provincial Meet at the newly built Mayor Esperanza S. Binghay Sports Oval last Friday, the province discovered eight athletes.

Leading the bemedalled athletes in the week-long meet was Ara Denisse Echavez of Consolacion, who bagged five gold medals in the elementary swimming division.

Mary Rose Rubio of Daanbatayan also had four gold medals in the secondary girls swimming, while Mark Vincent Billamino of Badian snared three gold medals in the secondary boys athletics. (JAF)
