IT professionals to get management training

THE Cebu Educational Development Foundation for Information Technology (Cedf-it) will hold a four-day basic project management workshop starting today until Saturday.

It will be from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Microsoft Southern Philippines Office, 7th floor, Skyrise Building, Asiatown IT Park, Barangay Apas, Cebu City.

It aims to equip participants with the basic project management knowledge and skills that may be applied to projects in information and communications technology and information technology (IT)-enabled service industry.

Fundamentals

It will provide knowledge in project management fundamentals, methodologies and best practices.

The workshop will involve the participants in the five stages of project management process that are common to any industry, like architecture, construction, engineering, manufacturing, software development or product development.

Objectives

The objectives will include understanding the various environments by which projects operate and the definition of the project manager’s role and responsibilities, among others.

The course will include insights from the Project Management Institute’s “A Guide to the Project Management Book of Knowledge.”

Facilitator

The main facilitator of the workshop will be Randy Balaoro, business development director of the Project Management Institute-Philippine Chapter.

He will be assisted by Cebu-based IT project managers.

The course fee is P10,000, inclusive of cost of venue, certificate of completion, course materials, lunch and snacks.

The training will be conducted using lecture, workshop and case studies as the learning tools.

The participants will be limited to a maximum of 20 per training batch.
