Shangri-La CEO receives award
SHANGRI-LA Hotels and Resorts chief executive officer and managing director Giovanni Angelini, was named “2006 Corporate Hotelier of the World” by HOTELS, the magazine of the worldwide hotel industry.
This award was voted upon by over 60,000 HOTELS’ readers in 170 countries.

Angelini attributes the award with the creation of a stable team of exemplary management and staff.
He began his career with Shangri-La family in 1988 as general manager of the Kowloon Shangri-La in Hong Kong. He was named group vice president operations and general manager of the Island Shangri-La, Hong Kong in 1993.
Since Angelini assumed his post in 1999, Shangri-La has more than doubled in size, growing from 22 to 49 properties in 13 countries and regions today. The expansion extends to non-traditional boundaries. Today there are 45 projects under development in Canada, mainland China, France, India, Japan, Macau, Malaysia, Maldives, Philippines, Qatar, Seychelles, Thailand, United Arab Emirates, United Kingdom and the United States.
