THE Cebuano teams dominated their Mindanao counterparts as the M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu City Jewelers punctuated their campaign for the upcoming playoffs with a lopsided 90-61 lashing of the host team Lanao Royals as the elimination phase of the MVBA Second Conference formally closed Saturday at the Mindanao Civic Center in Tubod, Lanao del Norte.

The Jewelers, who picked their third straight win in the Mindanao swing and gave the teams from Cebu its 10th victory over the Mindanao squads, set the pace early as they raced to a commanding 24-14 lead in the end of the opening period.

Former UV Green Lancer scoring machine and Cesafi MVP Jayford Rodriguez led another 15-0 assault by the Jewelers at the start of the second frame to break the game wide open and the Cebuanos never looked back again, as the Royals hardly put up a fight the rest of the way.

The win was the Jewelers ninth straight since losing its opening game, 79-83, last Oct. 19 to the Cebu Landmasters-Mantawi squad.

Rodriguez topped the Jewelers with 11 points, Mike Manigo and Danny Aying contributed 10 points each, while Jerry Holoyohoy topped losing squad with 14 markers.

M. Lhuillier-Cebu (90)— Rodriguez 11, Manigo 10, Aying 10, Mercader 9, Piodo 9, Latonio 9, Ramirez 8, Ocanada 7, Padilla 6, Enriquez 5, Llanto 4, Caputolan 2. Lanao (61)— Holoyohoy 14, Rosal 9, Romulo Simbajon 8, Clavite 8, Maghamil 6, Senining 6, Buhat 4, Mella 2, A. Jueves 2.
