Group bares plan to begin beach homes project in Tuburan next year

TO PROVIDE another option for a vacation home in Cebu, a group of Cebuanos is planning to develop a vacation villa in the northern part of the province.

The group, headed by architect Tessie Javier of TP Javier Architects and Associates, said it plans to develop — starting early next year — Apalan Beach Villas, on a 2.5-hectare property in Barangay Apalan, Tuburan.

“We are now doing site planning and hopefully (we will be able to) start the project next year,” Javier told news reporters during the reopening of Port Seafood restaurant at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino late last month.

Javier said the property development group got financial assistance from a bank to fund the project.

World-class

The project will feature 50 Mediterranean-Filipino designed beach houses and a condo hotel.

“It’s fronting a world class white (sand) beach too,” Javier said.

She said she has not yet determined the price for the beach houses, but marketing of the beach houses will not be limited to foreigners and overseas Filipino workers.

It will be made available to local residents who want to own a vacation house away from the city, she said.

Javier is optimistic the villa will be a “definite” attraction to foreign retirees who plan to settle in Cebu.

TP Javier and Associates designed the P3-billion Imperial Palace Waterpark Resort and Spa.

Imperial Palace, designed to be a five-star resort, will sit on a 7.5-hectare property in Barangay Maribago, Lapu-Lapu City.

During the project’s groundbreaking, Tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano had described it as the “biggest Korean investment in hotel development in the country.”

The resort will have 616 rooms in six medium and three low-rise buildings. There will also be 40 single units complete with amenities.

According to Javier, construction has already started as the resort is slated for completion in 2009. (MMM)
