Wednesday, December 06, 2006 Speak out: Overnight parking By Caloy Mendoza Sitio Eagle, Barangay T. Padilla Cebu City
(The letter is addressed to Land Transportation Franchising and Regulatory Board 7 Director Rogelio Osmeña)
This is to bring to your attention a clear and manifest violation of City Ordinance No. 356 relative to midnight parking (12 a.m.–5 a.m.) of vehicles in public roads and/or alleys.
I am a resident of Sitio Eagle, Barangay T. Padilla, Cebu City.
These last few months, I have observed that various vehicles (PUJ, taxis) parked overnight along the public alleys/passageways inside our sitio.
These vehicles, as a matter of fact, are not owned by residents of our place.
Ironically, two barangay councilors who are residents of said sitio have neglected their duties of enforcing the law even when they are tasked to do so under their oath as public officials.
My question is that if an emergency situation (fire or accident) happens inside the premises/area of our sitio, how will the fire truck or ambulance enter/gain entry when the road is blocked from the inside by illegally parked vehicles?
I hope you give this your most preferential attention at the soonest possible time.
