North Poblacion in Jimalalud, Oriental Negros won in the fourth to sixth municipalities category.
The lupons in the barangays and towns were “efficient and effective in their operations especially in attaining the objectives of the Katarungang Pam-barangay (KP) program by settling substantial cases filed and observing the settlement guidelines and procedures ,” the Department of Interior and Local Government 7 said.
Winner
The regional winner is Barangay Dampas in Tagbilaran City, Bohol once again grabbed the first place in the component city category for observing and following the settlement procedures under the Local Government Code, for conducting meetings for KP and for keeping records orderly and for submitting documents to the DILG on time.
The winners were chosen by the Regional Search Committee chaired by DILG 7 Director Rene Burdeos.
Committee
Its members included representatives from the Integrated Bar of the Philippines, Philippine National Police, Department of Education, National Police Commission, Ayala Foundation, Cebu City Prosecutors’ Office and Kiwanis Club of Cebu.
Meanwhile, the winners in the 2006 Search for the Ten Outstanding Barangay Officials of the Year award will be announced on Dec. 19 at the Executive Hall of Ecotech Center in Lahug, Cebu City.
Evaluation
A total of 38 nominees from the four provinces, two highly urbanized cities and ten component cities in the region were evaluated.
The top 20 finalists were selected the Regional Selection Committee for the final selection and interview on Dec. 18.
The results will determine this year’s 10 outstanding barangay officials under the categories of punong barangay, barangay ka-gawad, barangay secretary, barangay treasurer and Sangguniang Kabataan chairperson for the city and provincial levels.
Cebu’s City Calamba Barangay Captain Ester Concha and Apas barangay treasurer Wilma Sabaldan are among the finalists.
There are also three finalists from Mandaue City, one each from Lapu-Lapu City and the Cebu Province.
