Diano, Acabo lead chess tournament

EDEN “GM” Diano of Mandaue City and Allan Acabo shared the lead after round three of the 1st Dionisio Ababat Jr. Memorial Active Chess Open Tournament last Saturday night at the Bibo Chess Club and E-Bike Store.

Both of them logged three points each after disposing of their round three foes to forge themselves to outwit each other at the fourth round, which was playing at press time yesterday.

Diano, seeded number 10, made short work on veteran Rey Flores in a tough positional struggle of the Queen’s Pawn Opening, while Acabo upset the veteran Erwin Ababat in the Italian Game.
