One of these projects is the capacity upgrading of the Paknaan substation in Mandaue City. The project was undertaken primarily because of increased loads in Cebu’s north areas —Mandaue, Paknaan, Consolacion and Liloan. These areas have relatively higher load growth compared to others.
The project involves the installation of an additional 25 megavolt ampere, 69/23 kilovolt power transformer.
The additional transformer will help relieve, evenly distribute and reduce the loading on Paknaan, Mandaue and Consolacion feeders to optimal levels, thus enhancing system reliability.
It is also meant to balance feeder loading, improve power factor and voltage variation in various feeder line sections of Mandaue, Paknaan, and Consolacion substations giving Veco customers better electric service. (PR)
