Reli, Sevilleno to defend titles in Danao race

FORMER University of Cebu track superstars Rogelio Reli and Christy Sevilleno will be defending the crowns they won last year when the 26th Halad Kang Mano Amon Run blasts off this Dec. 24 in front of the Danao City Hall.

Reli grabbed the Men's Open title last year after dislodging 2004 champion Tirso Pamaybay, while Sevilleno will be going for her third-straight championship crown in the Women's Open division.

Annual race

A total of P47,250 cash will be at stake in the annual race, which is being divided into the Men's and Women's Open, Danao Residents Men's and Women's divisions, Executive Men's and Women's, Secondary Boys and Collegiate Boys divisions.

Also to be given cash prizes are the winners of the Biggest School Delegation award and the top three winners of the Best In Costume competition.

Top contenders

Expected to give Reli and Sevilleno a tight race for their crowns this year are Cagayan de Oro City runners Arnold Unabia and Aileen Tolentino, winners of the men's and Women's Open title of the 2005 Sinulog 10K Run.

The other top contenders for the Men's Open title are Pamaybay, Riez Enriquez, Glenn Tantug and Charlie Veloso, while Sevilleno's other tough rivals include Joery Ann Lee and Merlita Arias. (JSV)
