Lactea nails win in Sinulog Cup opening game

THE Lactea quintet opened their campaign in the 2006-2007 Season of the Punta Princesa Sports Association-Guardo Sinulog Cup basketball tournament with a bang.

Lactea beat Julie’s Bakeshop, 100-82, at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Gymnasium in Barangay Punta Princesa over the weekend.

The Atty. Raul Padilla-owned Lactea stamped their dominance early in the tournament, as they dominated the Breadmakers from start to finish and built leads that reached as high as 15 points to ink the opening-day victory.

Early assault

Jun Felicitas led the early assault of Lactea as he dropped 12 of his 17 total points in the first quarter to set the pace for Lactea, while Serge Cortes chipped in a game-high 23 points.

Audie Abejo and Cito Campos paced the losing Breadmakers with 20 and 18 points, respectively, while Lando Tabalin and Jimmy Carcueva added 11 points apiece.

Meanwhile, the opening-day program drew the participation of all 16 teams in the 30-above category.
