Felmar debuts with win in PPSA tourney

FELMAR Enterprises debuteds with a bang in the Punta Princesa Sports Association (PPSA) Atan Guardo Sinulog Cup basketball tournament after beating the AC Sports of Archie Baba, 98-84, over the weekend at the Vicente Sotto Memorial Gym in Punta Princesa.

The Felmar Five led most of the way before pulling away for good by erecting a double digit lead at the end of third canto.

Felmar further widened their edge in the final stretch as the 6-foot-4 Kokoy Astudillo, a former CDC Stallion stand out, exploded with 18 points in leading Felmar.

Five other Felmar players joined the fray scoring double figures each. They are Keith Dinoy, Eddie Ybañez, Heng Ortiz, Dave dela Cruz and Jumie Ararao.

Veteran Center Cesar Ortega and Cary Sanchez lead AC Sports with 15 points apiece, while Alfie Lansang added 12 in a losing offense.

Drubbed

In the second game, Julies Bakeshop drubbed Atan Guardo-Lemon, 91-77, for its first win in two outings, while Atan Guardo-Lemon is winless in three tries.

Cito Campus scattered a game-high 26 points, while 6-foot-2 Mark Gamallo dominated the rebounds and finished 12 points all in the pivotal fourth quarter that stretched Julie’s lead.

Also finishing in double figures for Julie’s are Lando Tabalin, Audie Abejo and Jimmy Carcueva.

Mon Ceballos paced Atan Guardo-Lemon with 30 points, while Batoy Cañete added 13.

In the main game, Samsung TV makers logged its first win after trouncing Atan Guardo-Black, 87-82. The TV makers led in every quarter and even erected a huge 12-point advantage, 65-53, entering the final quarter.

Diminutive guard Lito Navarro and Robert Abasolo led the rampage with 16 points apiece for Samsung, while Ric Arias finished with 12.
