Thursday, January 11, 2007 Aces beat Realtors in Philippine Cup exit
THE Alaska Aces ended their campaign in the 2006-07 Talk N Text PBA Philippine Cup with a victory after scoring a 99-91 win over the Sta. Lucia Realtors yesterday at the Araneta Coliseum.
But the victory of Alaska coach Tim Cone’s boys failed to make any difference as the Aces are already booted out of the tourney, alongside the Coca Cola Tigers, who were playing the Air21 Express at press time yesterday.
A victory by the Express yesterday would set them up for a do-or-die match with the Realtors on Friday at the Cuneta Astrodome with the winner advancing to the best-of-five quarterfinals against the Red Bull Barakos.
Former University of San Jose-Recoletos Jaguar John Ferriols played a monster game for the Aces as he knocked in 16 points, grabbed 21 rebounds, made three assists and inked one block to lead the Aces to victory, while Jeffrey Cariaso added 17 points, one rebound and two assists.
Willie Miller also had an excellent game for Alaska as he chipped in 15 points, four rebounds and three assists, while Tony dela Cruz added 12 points. (JSV)
