Tiu takes top spot

CLARK Tiu took temporary hold of the top spot after eight games of the 8th Metro Gaisano Sinulog Classic Tenpin Open at the Gaisano Bowlingplex.

Tiu, of the Bowlingplex Tenpin Association/Prima, finished the first half of the 16-game series ahead of 35 other keglers in Squad 1 as of Wednesday night.

The young kegler tallied 1,856 with an average scratch of 232.

Tiu banked in a high-scoring first game, when he toppled 265 pins giving him a huge headway in the game.

Temporarily taking second place is Luther Tapaya, also of BTA, who came up with 1,831 and sporting an average scratch of 223.8. James Zuluaga, of Cebu Tenpin Bowling Association, is currently at third place.

In the distaff side, the BTA/Prima lady keglers are dominating with Germaine Uang currently holding the top post after knocking down 1,738 pins.

Alexis Sy and Kim Lao, on the other hand, the 2006 bowlers of the year in their respective divisions by the Philippine Bowling Congress Youth Committee, temporarily take the next two spots.

The Squad I players will finish the remaining eight games tonight, while those in Squad II were still playing its first eight games at press time last night. (MCB)
