Saturday, January 20, 2007 Day 3 of hostilities sees changing of the guards
THE third day of action in the 26th Coral Invitational Golf Tilt saw a changing of the guards yesterday after a new team grabbed the leadership as the competition enters the homestretch at the Cebu Country Club.
The tandem of Gilbert Yap and Jun Suan snatched the lead with a two-day total of 154 points.
The pair got 73 points in the first day while getting 81 points yesterday to take a one-point lead.
Battle
The battle for the second place became a tightly-fought contest after three groups were locked in a tie with 153 points each.
Opening day leaders Enrique Ferrarons and Freddie Salimbangon faltered in the second day as they only managed to ink 71 points after scoring 82 in their first game to slide at second.
The pair of Claro Cinco and Robert Pangan climbed up to take a share of the secod spot with an 82-point game to improve their first day score of 71 points.
The duo of Renato Dychango and Andy Co joined the melee at the second spot after taking a share of the position with a two-day total of 153 points.
The other day’s leader in Arturo Go and Jimmy Cham could only come up with 68 points yesterday to fall into third place with 152 points.
They got 84 points in the first day.
Sharing the third place with them are Gabriel Yap Jr. and Anthony Bejar, who scored 71 points yesterday after tallying 81 points in the opening game.
The Coral Tee is a 36-hole modified Stableford competition among two-man teams composed of a Cebu Country Club member and a guest partner.
Computation for the scores is based on the following Stableford points corresponding to the player’s net score: one point for one over par, two points for par, three points for one under par, four poir two under par, five points for three under par and six points for four under par. (JGC)
