Tuesday, January 23, 2007 4 minors accused of robbing, shooting driver of taxicab
FOUR minors, reportedly aged 11 to 15, were tagged as the suspects in a robbery and shooting of a taxi driver in Barangay Duljo-Fatima, Cebu City yesterday.
Adonis Gono, 28, a driver of Richielda Taxi, said the incident occurred at 4 a.m. in Sitio Catwalk.
Gono, in an interview with Sun.Star Superbalita, said that he had just brought his passenger from SM City mall to the area when a boy, about 11 years old, flagged him down.
The boy told him that somebody will board his taxicab. While the boy was talking, three other minors arrived and declared a holdup.
He said he was stunned by the actuation of the four boys. A burst of gunfire then rang out.
Gono said he was not hit but out of fear he ran out of his taxi and sought assistance at the nearest barangay hall.
Mobile patrol policemen responded to the alarm but failed to arrest the suspects.
Barangay tanod Allan Matotinao believe the suspects are among the rugby boys in the area.
Gono was the second driver to have been victimized by minors in the area. (JFT of Superbalita)
