Tuesday, January 23, 2007 Tanod linked to rape, murder of 17-year-old
A TANOD has been accused of raping and killing a 17-year-old girl in Barangay Candulawan, Talisay City over the weekend.
Witnesses have tagged Alejandro Pardoncillo, 53, married, as suspect in the rape and killing of Lorena Llamedo, of Barangay.
Pardoncillo is reportedly the one last seen with the girl minutes before her body was found at a vacant grassy lot around 3:30 a.m. last Sunday.
Responding policemen also found Llamedo’s underwear slightly pulled down, an indication that she could have been sexually abused. She also had three knife wounds in the body, said PO2 Narciso Alforque of the Talisay City Police Station.
Questioning
The witnesses’ statements prompted Candulawan Barangay Captain Josefina Conceal and Councilman Narciso Abendan to pick up Pardoncillo and turn him over to the Talisay police.
“As of now he is still subject to questioning because of the witnesses’ statements that identified him as the last man seen with the girl,” said Alforque.
But Pardoncillo denied the accusation.
“I’m the one who helped in finding her and this is what I got, I’m detained here instead,” he told Sun.Star Cebu in an interview.
Pardoncillo said he and tanods Abendan and Felipe Castańares were on night duty at a disco in Sitio Eba, Candulawan prior to the incident.
After the disco, they went home on board a multicab past 2 p.m. Some 12 male disco-goers also hitched a ride, he added.
Pardoncillo said that right after he got off the multicab, he saw the victim alone in the middle of the road. He approached her to inquire if there’s anything wrong.
The girl told him she was looking for her mother who was reportedly answering the call of nature.
Pardoncillo said he then tried to look for Llamedo’s mother, leaving the girl behind.
“I had no idea where the girl had gone. I should not have left her alone,” he said.
Upon the request of the girl’s aunt, Pardoncillo said, he then helped look for the girl. They found her dead in a grassy lot.
Pardoncillo said the victim was a relative because the latter’s grandmother is his aunt. (GC)
