Bracket A leaders clash in VAAA

Game today:

5 p.m. – SWU vs. USJ-R

THE Visayas Amateur Athletic Association (VAAA) basketball tournament first round of elimination will formally end today, as Bracket A co-leaders Southwestern University (SWU) Cobras and University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) Jaguars will finally collide for the top spot going into the second round.

The come-backing Cobras will host the game at 5 p.m. at the Aznar Coliseum, which is popularly known as the “Snake Pit.”

Both SWU and USJ-R sported 3-0 win-loss cards and the winner of tonight’s game will carry a perfect 4-0 record into the second round. The loser will settle for second place with 3-1 card into the next round.

Third place in the bracket is the Bohol Institute of Technology Cruisers with 2-2, followed by Foundation University of Dumaguete with 1-3. Tagbilaran City’s Holy Name University is winless after four games.

In Bracket B, University of San Carlos Warriors are undefeated after four first round of elimination games, followed by Dumaguete City’s Asian College of Science and Technology with a 3-1 card, Salazar Colleges of Science and Institute of Technology with 2-2, Western Leyte College with 1-3, and Silliman University with a 0-4 record.
