However, firemen insisted that they proceeded to Sitio Manghupi, Barangay Can-asujan after learning about the alarm but had trouble going to the area because of the road leading to the sitio.
FO2 Rolando Gabia-na said that their driver decided that it was not safe to proceed because the road was too steep and narrow. With the tanker full of water, he was afraid they will lose their balance and encounter an accident.
He explained that the sitio was some 10 kilometers away from the town proper.
Muddy slope
After climbing a steep hill, they also had to pass a muddy slope leading to the sitio. “Dili na tinuod nga wa mi moresponde uy. Namalik lang gyud mi kay hapit na mi nadisgrasya,” he said.
Gabiana added that when they returned to the station, they sent the fire cycle that was earlier issued by the Provincial Government, but then the fire had already eaten up the house.
Luckily, none of the neighboring houses were affected.
No one was reported injured. Monday night’s fire was the first for the town this year. Damage to the house was placed at P40,000. (MEA)
