Carlo J. Caparas to become next adopted son of Cebu

AFTER former Chief Justice Artemio Panganiban, Cebu Province will now “adopt” multi-awarded filmmaker Carlo J. Caparas as son of the Province of Cebu.

Caparas is a well-known writer and director of Philippine movies.

He married Marian Patalinjug of Lapu-lapu City, who is known in the movie industry as Donna Villa and has just been awarded by the Province of Cebu as one of its Garbo sa Sugbo.

“With his marriage to Donna Villa, Carlo J. Caparas has learned to adopt the Cebuano culture and way of life and has in fact learned to speak the Cebuano language,” PB Member Juan Bolo, who sponsored the resolution, said.

“The accomplishments of Carlo J. Caparas has also brought honor and glory to the Cebuanos. His trait and disposition depict the character of a true blooded Cebuano, hence worthy of emulation and commendation,” Bolo added.

Marker-laying

The proposed resolution will be discussed on Monday, the PB’s first regular session for the year.

Last Monday, the PB conferred on Panganiban the title of “Adopted Son of Cebu Province.”

Panganiban led the marker-laying ceremony at the Court of Appeals (CA) Cebu station on M. Velez St. last November.

It was during this time when Court Administrator of the Supreme Court, Christopher Lock, a Cebuano, suggested the conferring of the honor on Panganiban. (MBG)
