USC-NC solidifies lead in Liga

UNIVERSITY of San Carlos-North Campus (USC-NC) remains on top of the standing of Liga: The RCTV Inter-School Basketball Cup, after winning its third straight game last weekend at the Cebu International School (CIS) courts, which saw the home team losing twice in one day.

USC-NC banked on the game-long brilliance of Nicolas Magat to trounce home team CIS in a lopsided 86-40 win to keep the team’s immaculate record.

Magat topscored for the team with 16 markers.

Another beating

Meanwhile, CIS suffered another beating after losing to Sacred Heart School-Jesuit (SHS-J), 108-56. SHS-J’s win puts them on the winners’ circle, striking its first victory after three outings.

Paul Almocera on the other hand, once more took the cudgels of Little Angels Montessori School’s (Lams) offense as the team eked out of University of San Jose Recoletos (USJ-R), 86-78.

Almocera once more scored 28 points to pace LAMS to register its second win, while USJ-R absorbed in second loss against one win.

Even terms

Lams and USJ-R were playing on even terms, where both teams ended the first period with 22 points each. USJ-R’s offense, however, dwindled as it only managed to score 9 points in the second frame, while allowing Lams to pad its lead, which they kept all throughout.

In the last game, Salazar Institute of Technology defeated Bright Academy, 61-37, to log its second win to sport a 2-1 win-loss card. Bright, on the other hand, spiraled further down the standing of Group A, as it remained winless after two games. (MCB)
