Also charged were Quiot Baranggay Captain Vicente Ramos Jr. and Regan King, general manager of Rdak Transport Equipment Inc., the supplier.
Jonathan Guardo, who is running against Cuenco in the May 14 elections, assisted Irene Camarista in filing the case. Camarista wants the anti-graft office to investigate the alleged “blatant overpricing.”
Camarista, daughter of former Guadalupe acting barangay captain Andres Gallardo, said she is doing this as an act “of advocating good governance.”
She said Guardo did not pay her to file the case.
Guardo, for his part, called on Cuenco and other respondents to answer the charges against them.
“Kinahanglan tubagon ni nila. Delikado mapriso sila aning ilang kalaki (This could send them to jail),” said Guardo.
For Cuenco, the filing of the case is “pure and simple gimmickry.”
“It is a cheap shot which aims to propel his hopeless attempt at fame and glory,” read Cuenco’s letter faxed to Sun.Star Cebu.
But Contrary to Cuenco’s statements that the vehicles were not yet paid and a public bidding is being called, Guardo said the multicabs already have official receipts and certificates of registration.
He also said no company will allow their products to be used for almost three months without payment.
Some of the vehicles are already damaged, he said.
Guardo said the purchase is a fund-raising for the administration bloc, which he described as a rotten team.
“I call them ROT-Rama, Osmeña, Tony,” said Guardo.
Meanwhile, Guardo’s camp also lambasted the camp of Mayor Tomas Osmeña for distributing health cards to selected voters.
As a counter-move, Guardo said he will be distributing Arthro packs to 100,000 recipients. Guardo owns the company that manufactures the herbal product.
He also said they are still finalizing the plan to field former congressman Jose “Dodong” Gullas in the mayoralty race. (KNT)
