Thursday, February 01, 2007 Iligan team tops Yonex badminton
TEAM Synergy of Iligan City came out as the most dominant team in the Yonex Badminton Cup as they garnered a total of five championship titles to snare the overall championship at the Portside Badminton Plaza Jan. 26-28.
Team Synergy bagged the titles in the Level D Men’s Doubles courtesy of Jude Bacayo and Jimbo Ozarraga, the Level D Mixed Doubles courtesy of Ozarraga and Ethel dela Cruz, and the Level E Mixed Doubles through Gerry Baldomero and Nikka Manzano.
Also included in the conquest of team Synergy were the Junior Boys (15 Under), where its bets Wilmat Alfeche and Kim Serentas emerged champions, and the Level A Mixed Doubles, which was ruled by Ian Mendez and Rina Batuigas.
Aside from the championship finishes, team Synergy also copped runner up finishes in the Level C Men’s Doubles courtesy of Francis Alonzo Yu and Aldon Hayag, the Level C Women’s Doubles courtesy of Kathy Kuan and January Maturan, the Junior Mixed Doubles through Bryle Stuart and Psalma Tingcang, and the Level B Men’s Doubles courtesy of EB Tong and Wague Chu.
