CDO-UV clobbers Landmasters
VIRGINIA Booster Hotdog and CDO Hamburger remain uncontested in the Partner's Cup Basketbal Tournament, following separate exploits yesterday at the Cebu Coliseum.
CDO, powered by the virtually undefeatable University of the Visayas (UV) Green Lancers, scored its third straight win after trampling on the hapless Landmasters-University of Southern Philippines Panthers, 83-72.
Earlier, Virginia, manned by the University of San Jose-Recoletos (USJ-R) squad, clobbered the Guardo-Don Bosco College (DBC) Greywolves, 86-69.
Benched
The Green Lancers managed to build up to as much as a 20-point advantage in the first half, while the Panthers' reliable man Brian Travero watched from the sidelines as he was benched for the better part of the game.
The Panthers managed to slice the lead to eight in the third frame behind the efforts of big man Dominic Ceniza.
Ceniza, who exploded with 16 points in the third canto, initiated a 29-15 onslaught for the Panthers to erase the deficit to just 53-61 going into the deciding quarter.
Dirty work
However, with only Ceniza doing all the dirty work, the Panthers were not able to overturn the final outcome thus absorbing its second straight loss in the competition.
Ceniza scored a game-high 24 markers to lead the Panthers. The Lancers, on the other hand, was paced by Richum Dennison, who scored 13 points for UV.
In the other game, after having its first taste of the victory, Guardo-DBC once more slinked back to the loser's side after bowing down to the Jaguars.
