Waterfront mulls G Hotel in Cebu
TO address the need for more hotel rooms in the province, a Filipino hotel chain operator is eyeing to build a branch of its G Hotel in Manila in Cebu within the next two years.
Waterfront Airport Hotel and Casino (WAHC) sales and marketing manager Shelly Arciaga said Gatchalian-led Waterfront Philippines Inc. (WPI) is looking at the development of five or six hotels under the G Hotel brand in Cebu, Davao, Bacolod, Iloilo and Cagayan de Oro.
According to Arciaga WPI will manage the operations of G Hotel, a boutique hotel.
G Hotel’s first branch in Manila, owned and designed by architect Gerry Contreras, opened last Nov. 19. Arciaga said the hotel was the subject of positive feedback from customers.
“We had a 100 percent occupancy rate during the launch,” she said.
The hotel, which follows a black-and-white interior design concept, houses 10 suite rooms and 40 deluxe rooms with 24-hour personalized butler service.
Arciaga told Sun.Star Cebu that G Hotel will be “competitively” priced and will target foreign visitors and upscale business travelers.
She said, though, that the company is yet to find a site for the hotel in Cebu.
WAHC hotel manager Hembler Mendoza believes that Cebu is a potential market for the G Hotel brand, especially as the local tourism and hotel industry are slowly picking up with the entry of more foreign visitors.
“I think after the Asean (Association of Southeast Asian Nations) summit, foreigners are starting to look at Cebu as a travel destination. Cebu needs to be ready to accommodate them,” he said. (MMM)
