PBA scouting for new players

WANTED, ball players.

The Philippine Basketball Association (PBA) is calling all interested players who aren’t yet part of any amateur commercial leagues to join the association’s Apprenticeship Program.

PBA Commissioner Noli Eala made the announcement yesterday and called it a “once-in-a-lifetime opportunity” to “experience how it is to play in the pros.”

Those interested have until Feb. 22 to submit their applications at the PBA Office at 186 E. Rodriguez Jr. Ave., Libis, Quezon City.

Interested parties must attach in their application forms a clearance from their ball club or athletic sports association allowing them to play for the “Apprentice Program” of the PBA.

“We hope we could complete the roster within the week so we could go ahead with the drafting,” Eala said.

He said the “Apprenticeship Draft” will be held on Feb. 27.

The Apprenticeship Program aims to counter the absence of the league’s stars when they get picked for the Philippine Team to the SEABA Championship in May and the FIBA-Olympic Qualifier in August. (PBA Media Bureau)
