COMPUTER experience will be a lot safer and secured this time as Microsoft launches its newest software that promises omprehensive anti-virus, anti-spam and anti-phishing capabilities.
Microsoft Philippines broke the news to Cebuanos last Feb. 15 at the Waterfront Cebu City Hotel and Casino, announcing their latest software that took five years of development—the Windows Vista, the 2007 Microsoft Office Sytem and the Exchange Server 2007.
In a nutshell, “for consumers, it’s easier, safer and more entertaining. For businessmen, it’s more connected, costs less and easy to manage and install,” said Stephane Kimmerlin, Microsoft Asia Pacific director for product marketing of the Windows client business group.
Safer
Windows Vista provides new capabilities designed to better protect and control information. Features like Windows BitLocker, Drive Encryption and Encrypting File System protect against data loss or theft, while features such as the Windows Rights Management Services Client and Group Policy allow users to control access to their information and devices.
“The software allows parental control. Parents can define and review what day, time and sites their children access on the web,” said Magtanggol Bawal, Microsoft Southern Philippines sales operation director.
Easier
The 2007 Microsoft Office User Interface, for Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access and Outlook applications promise easier use, reduced design clutter and user interface interruptions, easier to browse and find tools features, and support the creation of great-looking documents.
Exchange Server 2007 helps the workplace by providing greater mobility and connectivity of communication in the workplace. It allows users to access emails, office documents and correspondence using their cellular phones.
Piracy
Bawal cautions users from obtaining pirated Microsoft software.
“The advantage of having genuine software is that users and business establishment will have peace of mind,” he said.
“Pirated software is most likely to fail and malfunction. And users won’t also get the technical support that one will get for buying the genuine thing,” Bawal added. (JSC)
