Job websites have a lot of potential for countries like the Philippines. The challenge for employers is finding the job applicants they want, especially if theirs are positions that require reaching out to a segment that don’t read job ads.
I have a mailing list at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/digitalfilipino where more than 2,700 members are subscribed to.
Oftentimes, I receive requests from companies and individuals for their specialized job openings to be disseminated.
The dilemma though is that you can only post opportunities like that once and sometimes the position does not get filled up right away. Therefore, there is a need to continuously inform website visitors that the job is still open.
With the availability of blogs, I created http://digitalfilipinojobs.blogspot.com and use it as a job site of sorts. I made it partly exclusive where only club members can post. To ensure proper dissemination, I announce new openings in the mailing list and re-publish its content to five other blogs.
Apart from generating revenue through membership fees, passive income is earned through Google AdSense as related job opening ads are displayed. Whenever they are clicked, I earn.
However, it can’t be avoided that some companies want to post job openings for free. This is where I subscribed to www.jobthread.com, to allow non-club members to post their openings.
JobThread.com allows you to charge or have a fully free job site. It also has a refer-a-friend program where those who post free job openings get invited to fully subscribe and pay a monthly fee. It allows me to earn a small income.
Whether you want a job listing or newsletter site, there are many simple ways for these projects to be posted online and to generate income as a result.
DAVAO BLOGGERS. On March 17, the Davao blogging community will have the 1st Davao Bloggers Party. More details about it can be found at ttp://www.davaoblogs.com. They are also planning their 1st Mindanao Blogging Summit. I’m definitely excited about catching up with Mindanao bloggers soon.
