Bananas with a sparkle

A healthy food that is fun!

Frozen bananas, chocolate-flavored dip and sprinkles are the right ingredients for a healthy snack.

Bananas are good source of Vitamin A, B6, C and potassium and though these are kept frozen for 6 months, still these remain fresh and healthy.

Chocolates on the other hand are anti-oxidant. They contain saturated fats which will not increase the level of cholesterol in the bloodstream. (www.wikipedia.com)

These healthy ingredients are found in the newest food stall in Ayala Center Cebu, Goin Bananas.

Goin Bananas opened last December 2006. It offers a new flavor to bananas, frozen bananas. One frozen banana on stick is dipped on homemade chocolate syrup and showered with sprinkles of one’s choice. Aside from this, it also sells Banana Boat where the frozen banana is placed in a boat-shaped plate. Still, this comes with the chocolate syrup and sprinkles. The Frozen Banana costs P30 while the Banana Boat costs P50.

Gina Atienza, owner of Goin Bananas, got the idea when her family went abroad. “Because we haven’t seen such in the Philippines, specifically in Cebu, we just thought of bringing it to Cebu since my kids loved the taste."

“Out target customers are the young—-children, teenagers, college students, and young professionals. But of course, the older ones can also enjoy it,” Atienza added.

The product also offers Frozen Apple or Frapple (P35). It still goes with the chocolate dip and sprinkles. Atienza also thought of Frozen Langka, which is offered together with the new dip flavors: chocolate mint and strawberry.

Buyers are guaranteed that the fruits have no preservatives, all-fresh and 100 percent healthy. Surely, it is a healthy snack that is fun!

Goin Bananas accepts orders for school fairs, parties and other events. For inquiries please contact 09173217948 and 254-9788. (Kimberly May Lasala Villacrucis, UP BAMC)
