Big fire in Mandaue
Barangay Mantuyong in Mandaue City is brighter than at any other time its folks remember. A fire leveled a large part of the barangay, then finding nothing else to feed on, spread to Barangay Guizo, which is near the famous Cebu International Convention Center.(Sun.star photo/Alex Badayos)
A FIRE that broke out yesterday afternoon in Barangay Mantu-yong, Mandaue City raged for close to four hours and leapt to neighboring barangay Guizo.

A 37-year-old man died as he was trapped while trying to save some belongings. Three firemen and a teenager were injured in the blaze that started about 3:45 p.m.

Mandaue City Fire Marshal Oscar Mayol said in an interview last night that they have yet to tally the number of houses burned and determine the damage estimate and what caused the fire.
