Youth leaders presented yesterday a manifesto asking for a “higher-level” or issue-based campaign for the elections. Lopez spoke in the Kapihan sa PIA.
“Cebuanos study issues and platforms above and over the popularity of the candidates,” noted Lopez.
Mark Chang, vice chairman of the Association of Law Students of the Philippines, said Cebuanos have proven to be “wise” voters in several elections. It was Chang who presented the manifesto to keep the campaign issue-based.
Cebu City North District Election Officer Marchel Sarno urged C-Cimpel, a church-based election monitor, to work with the Commission on Elections to educate voters against vote-buying. (NRC)
