Saturday, March 17, 2007 Jose rizal as little bad boy
TODAY, Sine Totoo’s host Howie Severino gets the unique opportunity to interview his very own teammates about their award-winning documentary Little Bad Boy.
A grant recipient of the Asia Europe Foundation and also awarded Outstanding TV Feature at the 2005 La Sallian Scholarum Awards, Little Bad Boy portrays Jose Rizal not as the national hero we all know but as the Filipino Everyman in Europe … who in some ways was a typical overseas Filipino.
Howie’s executive producer Ella Evangelista and veteran cameraman Egay Navarro share behind the scenes stories on how they produced one of the most quirky documentaries ever made about our national hero.
As they visited many of the buildings Rizal lived and worked in, the team could imagine him alive and enjoying the breathtaking tourist attractions of Europe.
Their guide in tracing Rizal’s European journey was, surprisingly, a Belgian man obsessed with Rizal. An organizer and officer of the Knights of Rizal in Europe, Jean Paul Verstraeten says sometimes he doesn’t know whom he loves more—his Filipino wife Thess or our national hero!
With the help of Jean Paul, Howie and his teammates were able to bring this extraordinary documentary to the small screen, reminding present day viewers of Rizal’s relevance to today’s world.
Catch Little Bad Boy: Ang Binatang Rizal sa Europa on Sine Totoo, tonight at 11:15 p.m. over GMA.
