Saturday, March 17, 2007 Speak out: Vice-guv’s claim By Gilbert Reyes Wagas
Your report dated March 16, 2007 on Vice Gov. Gregorio Sanchez’s accusation against two Capitol lawyers lack substance. There are missing links.
I am curious why the names of the two lawyers who allegedly extorted money from the vice governor and of the woman who was allegedly used by the two lawyers were withheld.
The issue is very serious and warrants deeper investigation by the Office of the Ombudsman-Visayas considering that the two lawyers are allegedly connected with the Capitol.
If the vice governor is indeed serious in his accusation, I challenge him to release to the media the following documents:
--Affidavit-complaint of the woman who was allegedly used by the two lawyers for their extortion activity;
--Affidavit of desistance of the woman as proof of amicable settlement involving P600,000.
These documents are needed to ascertain the veracity of Sanchez’s allegation. And why pay P600,000 when you are innocent?
I suspect that there is more than meets the eye here. The vice governor may be jumping the gun to avoid public humiliation.
But I say he has opened the Pandora’s box.
