Tourism show opens more windows

THIS year’s Vis-Min Tourism and Lifestyle Show has not only grown bigger than the earlier two shows but has provided a “bigger window of opportunity” for the southern part of the country, said Cebu Gov. Gwendolyn Garcia during the opening of the event.

The show – the third such event held in Cebu – has attracted over 200 exhibitors that include not only major players in the tourism industry in the country, but also some agencies in Southeast Asia.

Garcia said the show provides Visayas and Mindanao the opportunity to showcase their tourist destinations, and visitors “the chance to discover the face and soul” of Cebu.

Tourism Secretary Joseph “Ace” Durano who, together with Garcia and Cebu City Vice Mayor Michael Rama, opened the show last Friday, said the event “perpetuates the culture of travel, of open-mindedness.”

Features

The show is organized by the Cebu Travel and Tours Association, Cebu Association of Tour Operators, and Global-Link Marketing and Management Services.

Booths at the show not only offer information about various tourism destinations in the country but also promotional packages by tour and travel operators as well as airlines.

The Malaysia Tourism Promotion Board as well as the Sabah and Singapore tourism boards also participated in the show.

The show closed yesterday. Next year’s show will also be held at SM City Cebu from March 14 to 16. (LAP)
