Friday, March 23, 2007 Cañete to conduct summer arnis clinic
IN his desire to propagate the Filipino martial art of arnis to the young Filipinos, grand master Dionisio Cañete, will conduct a summer clinic starting this Monday at the Donce Pares World Headquarters at the Sto. Niño Village in Talamban.
“It is very rare because he (Dionisio) usually delegates teaching to his trainors,” said executive director Gerald Cañete, who is also the son of GM Cañete.
He added that aside from the grandmaster, most sought-after trainer Percival Pableo will also be present to train advanced participants.
The executive director said this year, they have established a program that would allow kids to have fun this summer without parents worrying where they will be and of their safety.
The summer program is dubbed the Grandmaster’s Daycare, which offers unlimited hours of training from March 26 until May 26.
“We are catering to kids who can spend their day at a secured place, while learning discipline and self-defense,” said Gerald.
“For parents, who need a day care Doce Pares is the place this summer,” Gerald said referring to the Grandmaster’s Day Care. (MCB)
