ANOTHER documentary on arnis for international release is already in the offing, with its American film producer arriving today.
Todd Moss, who is set to film the history of Doce Pares International, will be hitting town today, where he will meet with Doce Pares grandmaster Dionisio Cañete.
“Moss’ interest in the sport was aroused upon seeing the burgeoning of the popularity of arnis in the US,” said Doce Pares official Gerald Cañete.
Moss is one of the top-notch producers of National Geographic's Tools of the Trade. He also produced films for History Channel, Animal Planet and CourtTV.
He also produces a TV series for national release in the US. "The filming will take place in a week or two still.
Todd would still needs to get a good grasp of Doce Pares prior to completing the script of the film," said Gerald.
The documentary with be the fifth made about Doce Pares, the others having been produced by channels BBC, Discovery, National Geographic and Japan TV.
In the preliminary discussions, Gerald said that shooting is supposed to take place in major and historic thoroughfares of the city such as Colon and Tabo-an and in tourist spots in southern towns.
Meanwhile, summer classes at the Doce Pares headquarters at Sto. Niño Village in Banilad, for arnis and other martial art form will start today. (MCB)
