THIS year’s main attraction for the “Sugat sa Argao” will be the descent of an angel on a butterfly.
On April 8, Resurrection Sunday, a child, who will play the role of an angel, will fly from the church belfry on a huge butterfly and descend on the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary, said Msgr. Jose S. Montecillo, parish priest of the Diocesan Shrine of St. Michael the Archangel Parish in Argao, Cebu.
The event, which will be held at the church plaza, will commence on Saturday evening with a series of activities like a religious video presentation and dance numbers highlighting on a 30-minute drama entitled “Tungod sa Gugma.”
The stage play, directed and produced by Aljin Abaquita, features the society’s problems and the experience of transformation through God’s Love.
The finale of the play features the last days of our Lord Jesus Christ in the Garden of Gethsemane.
Another attraction in the presentation is the doxology by the Hymns of the Angels choir and St. Michael the Archangel choir, under the direction of Baby Sarchez.
A dance number by the 80-member cast will follow. The production is choreographed by Abaquita, Roy Comalig, Harry Ogario and Jun Veloso.
It has become an annual attraction for Argawanons as well as residents of the neighboring towns.
Montecillo said the proceeds of the event will be used for the completion of the parish parking area, cemetery chapel and the renovation of the Birhen sa Lourdes grotto.
