“We know Lito Sisnorio is not a big name in Philippine Boxing…Lito died in the ring because of poverty. Like Pacquiao, he wanted to give his family a decent life. Like Pac, he carried the flag and pride of our country. Like Pac, he wanted to be popular,” said a poster at the forum.
Based on their ring records, Sisnorio was clearly no match for Sasakul, who lost is WBC flyweight belt to Manny Pacquiao last 1998.
Prior to his fight in Thailand, Sisnorio had only fought 10 times, and lost four of his last five fights in Thailand. All of the losses were against Thais. On the other hand, the 37-year-old Sasakul has 58 wins with 37 KOs.
Sisnorio lost to Pongsaklek Wonjongkam in four rounds last January, lost by unanimous decision to Panomroonglek Kratingdaengym on Oct. 5, 2006. He also lost in six rounds to Oleydong Sithsamerchai on Sept. 21, 2005 and to Pigmy Muangchaiyaphum on Sept. 21, 2005.
The only bright spot in his record was when he scored a fifth-round knockout of Fahpetchnoi Chitpattana on June 26, 2006, snapping the Thai’s 13-match unbeaten streak.
A report at philboxing.com said, “Reports coming out of Thailand indicate that Sisnorio was dropped by several consecutive right hooks to the head and was counted out, going back to his corner visibly groggy.
According to the report, Sisnorio vomited after the fight, prompting the organizers to bring him to the hospital where a brain surgery was performed. (ML)
