Wednesday, April 04, 2007 Barrita: They’re all for one Cebu By Eddie O. Barrita Small Bites
SUGBUAK proponents Reps. Antonio Yapha and Clavel Asas-Martinez, who want to be governor and vice governor of the province they sought to butcher, said they will “maintain one Cebu.”
But their platform said they want “to maintain one Cebu with the present geographic boundaries as one nation.”
“Cebu is a province, not a nation,” reelectionist Gov. Gwen Garcia, anti-Sugbuak prime mover and One Cebu Party stalwart, reminded the duo.
Something must have gone awry while copying it, madam.

Gov. Gwen knew imitation is the best form of flattery.
But her One Cebu battle cry will surely lose its luster once Yapha and Martinez adopt it as their own.
Did they really change their minds in butchering Cebu?
Maybe they have seen the light while hitting the campaign trail.

Mandaue City Mayor Thadeo Ouano and Lapu-Lapu City Mayor Arturo Radaza remain suspended from holding office.
Saying there’s “no cogent reason” for issuing a temporary restraining order (TRO), the Court of Appeals, in separate resolutions, denied the petitions to stop their six-month preventive suspension in relation to the P365.8 million purchase of lampposts and streetlights for the Asean summit.
Whoever said getting a TRO is a breeze?

The Catholic Church has rejected flagellation, crucifixion and other traditional practices of Filipino Catholics during Holy Week.
I beg to differ.
Politicians should be allowed to continue these practices, exclusively.

We may never get the chance to see the telecast of Manny Pacquiao’s upcoming bout against undefeated Mexican Jorge Solis in San Antonio, Texas.
You see, opposition Rep. Darlene Antonio-Custodio (South Cotabato and Gen. Santos City first district) is seeking a total blackout on news about Pacquiao not related to his candidacy.
All because Manny Pacquiao is running against her.
