Cardinal Vidal will be in Marinduque, his home province, during the elections, but he is confident there will be peaceful and clean elections in Cebu.
“Cebuanos,” he said, “are very good people and intelligent voters.”

Rep. Tony Cuenco has claimed his challenger, businessman Atan Guardo, has embarked on a money-giving spree in Cebu City’s south district which I last heard was not for sale.
Over 7,000 families, Tony claimed, have accepted Atan’s offers of P1,000 each paid now and another P1,000 each to be paid on election eve.
If true, Atan should better look for voters who, after they were bought, will stay bought.

But wait.
Tony said he will press charges against Atan only if in-house and independent surveys will show Atan’s alleged vote-buying has affected his chances of winning the elections.
So, Atan can throw money away to his heart’s content as long as Tony wins?

Cebu City Mayor Tommy Osmeña has rebuffed Atan Guardo’s dare for the mayor to debate with opposition mayoralty candidate Mary Ann de los Santos.
It would have been interesting to listen to David challenge Goliath.
As what street boys (this is attributed to Manny Pacquiao) say, “We will see the scattered” (Makita natong katag).

Former senator Francisco Tatad, ex-Martial Law spokesman turned political dynasty critic, called on voters to leave ballots for senators blank as there are “no compelling reasons to vote for any senatorial candidate."
There lies the problem.
Some people unfairly accused of not knowing how to count can surely write.
