Family KTV bags title in Lucky tournament

THE K1 Family KTV-SCH Marketing bagged the Lucky Sports Arena Regulars basketball tournament title with a 61-52 pounding of last year’s champion Arthkyob over the weekend at the Lucky Sports Arena in Guadalupe, Cebu City.

Finals MVP Jiggy Apil led the K1 Family KTV-SCH Marketing team with 18 points as he single-handedly worked his way past his defenders in the final quarter.

It was a disappointing loss for the defending champions Arthkyob as they led in the first three quarters of the game with Yuri Blanes and Kent Tandan leading the charge.

But Michael Viliran, James Lu and Jeremy Ponce combined efforts for K1 KTV and worked their way past the Arthkyob defense to tow their team ahead.

Apil hammered the final nail on Arthkyob’s coffin when he scored at will in isolation plays that paved the way for K1 to take the lead in the final minutes of the third period.

In the final quarter, Arthkyob’s AJ San Juan desperately tried rally his team back even as Arthkyob coach Sidney Kiamko mounted a man-to-man defense against the boys of K1 coach Cedar Ubod.

But K1 KTV’s Paul Alvarez, John Seno and Joseph Orosio stood up to the challenge as they parried whatever Arthkyob could throw to secure the win. (JSV)
