THE M. Lhuillier Sports Development Foundation (MLSDF) Better Swimming Training Camp, staged in partnership with the Talisay City Sports Commission (TCSC), was formally launched yesterday at the Talisay City Hall.
Fifty swimmers, between six to 15 years old, have already signed up for the month-long clinic, which will kick off on April 16 at the Rafols Resort in Brgy. Dumlog, Talisay City. Training will be held from Mondays to Saturdays at 7:30 to 9 am.
The bulk of the campers in the inaugural MLSDF swim clinic were part of the Talisay City Swimming Team that hauled several medals in the 2007 Central Visayas Regional Athletic Association Meet last March 18 to 24 in Dumaguete City.
Among the participants are Mary Valerie Remolino (2 golds, 2 silvers, and 1 bronze), Franzene Esmero (1 gold and 3 silvers), Merlyn Silva (1 gold, 2 silvers and 1 bronze), Joyce Huguete (1 gold and 2 silvers), Joven Rosario (3 silvers and 1 bronze), Fritz Tamara (3 silvers) Adonis Vidal (2 silvers), Ronel Parane and John Remolino with one silver each, and Angelica Daan, Niña Quiatchon and Jennelyn Cabañero with one bronze apiece.
“MLSDF wants to be an active catalyst in harnessing the skills of potential swimmers from Talisay and eventually transform them into highly competitive athletes,”said MLSDF commissioner Eddie Ybañez. (MCB)
