Saturday, April 14, 2007 Jewelers go up against Holcim Pryce in MVBA
TWO head coaches and a revamped team will make their debut when the 2007 Mindanao Visayas Basketball Association (MVBA) First Conference resumes hostilities tomorrow with a doubleheader at the New Cebu Coliseum.
Reigning Mindanao division champion Holcim Pryce Pharma-MisOr of league chairman Gov. Oscar S. Moreno has appointed Rodolfo Jose “Bong” Abad as its new head coach, replacing Rex Salvaña.
At the time of his appointment, Abad was a MisOr assistant coach along with Jaime Rivera and Albert Bernados.
Abad will have his hands full as he leads his 1-1 MisOr team against defending champion M. Lhuillier Kwarta Padala-Cebu City and its veteran tactician, Raul “Yayoy” Alcoseba, in the opener at 5 p.m.
M. Lhuillier defeated Holcim Pryce Pharma-MisOr, 75-67, during the league’s opener last March 26 at the Xavier University Gym behind the good play of Woodrow Enriquez, Jett Latonio, Mike Manigo and Stephen Padilla, who all combined for 52 markers.
In the main game, it will be the turn of the new-look Iligan Archangels of Mayor Lawrence L. Cruz to unveil its new head coach in Mike Reyes as they face Arthro Kontra Arthritis of businessman Jonathan “Atan” Guardo and coach Al Solis. (PR)
