Narrow roads hinder firefighters in Bulacao

A FIRE destroyed two houses in the interior portion of Gimeno St. in Saint Jude Acres Subdivision, Barangay Bulacao, Cebu City last Saturday night.

Four other houses were also damaged during the fire, which reportedly started inside the residential compound of Vivian Villaluz, who owns V. Joice Catering services.

No one was hurt.

The Cebu City Fire Department received the call for assistance at 7:58 p.m. and declared the fire under control 15 minutes after it was raised to a second-alarm blaze.

Investigators have yet to confirm what triggered the fire, but initial information gathered by fire investigator Frank Donozo revealed there was a brownout before the fire broke out.

Firefighters from the Filipino-Chinese Fire Brigade and fire brigades from Barangays Quiot and San Antonio assisted the fire department.

A team from the Pardo Police Station led by Insp. Armando Cañete secured the area, particularly from looters.

Narrow roads prevented the firefighters from immediately penetrating to the fire scene. Three vehicles—one Crosswind, one Mazda sports car and one motorcycle—were also razed. Damage to property was pegged at P1.2 million. (JST)
