Canlas still can’t decode Lagman

JACOB Lagman capped the Cebuanos’ bid in the Truflex National Junior Tennis Tournament with a commanding win in the Boys 12 division yesterday at the Rizal Memorial Tennis Courts.

Lagman, the national topseed of the Boys 12 division, reaffirmed his dominance as he posted a 6-0, 6-2 win over Calvin Canlas for the title, in just 40 minutes.

Canlas is Lagman’s perennial victim, whose rivalry stretches to as far back as when the two were still playing in the Under 10 division.

Canlas could never decipher the Cebuano’s unpredictable style that he never once won a set over Lagman.

Lagman, the pride of St. Benedict Learning Center, is extending his stay up North as he is training under Beeyong Sison in Subic in preparation for his stint in the Palarong Pambansa on April 21 in Koronadal, South Cotabato.

Earned

Points are earned in the tournament allowing Lagman to solidify his bearing on top of the Boys 12 ranking.

Meanwhile, Vince Mark Tabotabo failed to bring home the crown in the 10 under unisex division after bowing down to Vince Salas, 3-6, 6-7 (5-7).

In his bid to improve his ranking, Tabotabo of Tuburan is out to earn more points. He is off to Baguio today for the Juntaphil Cup, which is a Group 2 tournament. (MCB)
