Cebu tallies 2nd win in softball open

THE Cebuano H&B Softball squad scored another victory with an 11-2 win over Taguig in the 2007 Summer Grand Slam Philippine National Softball Championship held at the Rosario Sports Arena in Pasig City.

Inspired by its first win over the Indonesian squad the other day, the Cebuanos opened the game with two runs in the first inning.

The lead stretched to four in the second before Taguig scored a run at the bottom of the second inning.

However, all hopes for the Taguig City squad were doused as the Cebuanos made four destructive runs in the third inning.

Roldan Bacarisas hit a long drive to the center field on a full base scenario that drove Sherwin Tabar, Oscar Bradshaw and Jasper Cabrera home, before he made his own run.

The Cebuanos enjoyed an 8-2 lead at the end of the third.

The Cebuanos then tightened its defense and held Taguig scoreless the rest of the way while scoring a run each in the fourth, fifth and seventh innings to secure its second victory.

“It’s a good feeling that we were able to send a strong message to our opponents. Our victories really intimidated our opponents, that is why when we had the chance to play good games. We were also lucky because we had a lot of hits and it helped us a lot,” playing coach Dionisio Bacarisas told Sun.Star Cebu yesterday.

As of press time, the Cebuanos batted against Cavite, while at 3:30 p.m. today, they will play against Laguna for a shot at the number one spot in Bracket B.(RCM)
