Robbers slash nursing coed’s throat

ROBBERS broke into a house where a 20-year-old college student was staying and slashed her throat.

Rizalie Sarda, a nursing student at the Asian College of Technology, was found dead with her head near the bathroom door.

She was still clad in her school uniform.

The house she was staying at belongs to Maritess Sasan, who is based in the United States.

Sasan had designated Sarda’s close friend, Marife Anaya, to take care of the house.

Because Anaya wanted to take a vacation in Bohol Province, she requested Sarda to stay in the house.

Sarda, who lived in Tina-an, Naga, was alone when the robbers entered the house.

Police believe the attack happened Wednesday night. However, it was not until yesterday morning that Sarda’s body was discovered.

Investigators of the Naga Police Station believe three persons were behind the killing.

Newly assigned Naga Police Station Chief Anthony Bagarinao headed the investigation.

Based on her injuries, they believe Sarda’s esophagus was slashed while a hard object was bashed on her face and hands.

They believe robbers entered the house because many items were missing.

Among the items missing were a personal computer, an electric fan, a component without speakers and a hot and cold water dispenser.

PO1 Miguel Castañares said his colleagues were able to identify the suspects because they traced where the stolen items were sold.

He declined to elaborate, saying members of the police station were still conducting a follow-up.

A radio dyAB report said neighbors were the ones who noticed Sarda’s absence.

They reportedly noted that Sarda leaves for school early in the morning and they were surprised why she did not leave the house that morning.

Someone went to check what happened and found her dead on the floor near the kitchen. (MEA/VLM of Superbalita)
