Saturday, May 05, 2007 Speak out: Gwen should sack Byron By Karapatan-Central Visayas
IF there is any tinge of delicadeza left in the governor, she should cut the contract of her controversial brother Byron Garcia as Capitol security and forever keep him out of Capitol affairs with a hundred-meter pole.
It is the most decent thing to do in the bloody aftermath of the despicable assassination of an anti-Garcia mayoralty bet right inside the Capitol complex last Wednesday. It is the only thing to do amidst the inexcusable failure of Byron’s Civil Security Unit and Spectrum Security Agency to interdict the assassins of Sta. Fe mayoralty candidate Rogelio Ilustrisimo, Sr.
The assassination of a well-known protégé of the Martinez clan, political rival of the governor and ilk, highlights the monumental failure of Byron at doing his job his supposed only job at the Capitol. It is a slap at Byron who has been busy dipping his hand in various anomalies especially at the provincial jail. He has been so preoccupied with other matters that he is fumbling at his job.
